How to change a gallery layout?

On the gallery page in question click on ‘Edit Page’ on the admin toolbar at the top of the page. On the edit page click on ‘Edit’ on the NextGEN Gallery block. Choose the layout you want. Click on ‘Insert Gallery’ at the bottom left. Click on ‘Update at the top right. Enjoy

Can I still use the forum if I don't want to sign up for a site?

Yes you can. If you don’t wish to purchase a site and hosting plan you can still enjoy the features of the community and forum sections. Just click on the register menu item and create a user registration. Once complete, log in and you will have a new user profile where you can upload your own cover image and avatar. Both the community and forum have many features available to you so go ahead and explore.
